Chadwell Heath couldn't cope with the transport, I'd imagine. Is Fairlop the nearest tube?

I happen to believe that something very similar will actually happen, but the board would never have got the O/S on those terms.

Of course, we can't go back to the Boleyn but I wouldn't be at all surprised if someone in the club has a quiet portfolio to find a new, permanent home.

Personally, I thought that the old Chadwell Heath training ground would make an ideal location for a variety of reasons, but suspect the land is earmarked for gravel extraction over the next 30 or so years. Don't think many locals would be that accommodating, either.

The biggest dampener on any such move is likely to be wholly political.

Pressure "from above" will ensure that any & every chance that opens up for the club to vacate the O/S will be shut down - whatever the cost to the tax-payer.

MO

How about we rented the os for a season or two and totally rebuilt UP?

We had a new east stand approved anyway and if tottenham managed to get planning permission in an equally built up area with arguably worse transport links why couldn't we? I think the will wasn't there and the board saw a fast buck. We have now sold our HOME and RENT a stadium that we seem to have little control over.

Re: Has WHO turned into an anti West Ham site?
It's all about expectation management. After last season, many expected more of the same but, for a variety of reasons, that has not happened this term.

Get your "I'm not fucking reading all that"'s in now.

1. The stadium.

We had to change. HAD TO. The "ideal" solution, for many, it seems, was to upgrade the Boleyn; that would be "enough" (for who and how long wasn't made clear).. A whole raft of local pre-existing situations effectively killed that possibility, so the next best thing would have been a shiny new, purpose built stadium. Great! Where?

Be honest. Really where? The club seem to have been looking for the last 20 years and when something suitable seemed to turn up (I'm thinking the old "Post Office" site, there were a whole suite of obstacles placed before the club, some clearly politically motivated, others with the self-interest of a minority at the fore), so that path was closed up.

Even moving to the hundreds of Essex was floated (at least on here). That make a little sense given that a large core of our support had followed the dock work that way, and Fords (& May & Baker/Ever Ready) were still big in Dagenham). That never got any legs, so we had to move down the list of available, practical options.

The Olympics were announced. Our then Board saw a brilliant opportunity present itself and offered to help fund the Olympic stadium with a view to taking it over after the games.

Arrogant political self-interest and personal agendas swiftly killed that one off and we ended up with an unsuitable arena deliberately designed to make suitable for use as a top rank football stadium. Deliberately designed - don't ever let that fact go.

Hobson's Choice it was then. With all the available information, the board decided that a move was better than staying put/limited expansion. Some of the information on which that decision was made was, for reasons of (commercial) confidentiality unavailable to the fans - how very DARE they!!! Do they think they OWN the club, or something!!?? (As a matter of fact, they do. HTH).

So move we do, but, being West Ham, we don't go down the most logical path, the board, on our behalf, try to do everything on the cheap (perfectly mimicking the policy used to build the place initially, I believe); the move was for the long-term benefit of the club, but the solutions to facilitate that move have all been short-term. We've ended up with a dog of a stadium trying to serve (at least) two masters. One needs to cede ownership if things are to genuinely improve.

2. Now the team. Looking back, the performances actually started to flag in the latter half of last season, but, given we had a few spectacular results coming out of the blocks, they were able to use momentum to end up where they did. If my memory serves, there was still talk about qualifying for the Champions League with just a handful of games remaining, but it proved beyond us.

My belief is that we would have had identical performances this season, had we stayed at Upton Park; Bilic - and Payet, in particular - had been worked out by other teams & managers, and, effectively nullified. Compounded by a summer transfer season of gargantuan incompetence, there really was no way for the team to turn around the slow slide back to mediocrity.

The change of venue probably hasn't helped, but, for the team, who ply half their trade at a different ground every fortnight, I really don't see it as a major factor.

In summary, the team have failed to live up, so far, to last season's expectations. The complete balls-up in operations, as well as PR, from the club over the move to the new stadium has distracted the fans from giving 100% to the team.

Both can be remedied by the club's management.

Whether or not they have the desire, bottle & ability to do so will become apparent in the next six weeks or so.

less would moan if we had something to be positive about. the passion seems to have gone this year, there is no fight or determination. These players are paid all these bags a week, u expect better performances and to give there all in each game

You can add Carroll and Kouyate to that tbf

There's some cunt stands behind me who's repertoire is basically:

- signing 'we're fucking shit'

- slagging off payet at every opportunity

- shouting that everyone else is a tourist

The bloke is a fucking cunt of the highest order. Probably on here.

Agree re Noble, I think we would have folded in the last two without his efforts.

It's basically just a load of sad cunts who have shit lives and get no sex and are angry as a result. They take out this anger by moaning on here about West Ham/the board.

Re: Has WHO turned into an anti West Ham site?
Yep they do have their hearts in the right place. Up to a point.

But they don't have the financial muscle or financial will to realise their ambitions. So stop trying to sell us the bullshit.

We are currently an underperforming midtable side at best who happen to have a top 4 size stadium. Which we can fill...for the time being.

I put the blame squarely at Essex for all this.

Re: Has WHO turned into an anti West Ham site?
I've been a West Ham fan for over 50 years & believe me there's plenty to moan about

Unlike many, I believe the board have their hearts in the right places

I've lived through the dark days of the tight-arsed unambitious Cearns, T.Brown who used the club as his personal money box, flogging off all our bright young talent to fill his back pockets & the bankrupt biscuit makers

This lot are nowhere near as bad

What they are guilty of is not investing heavily in the squad in the summer

The move to the LS was necessary but far from ideal. It's happened now so it's too late to moan about it

Bilic seems to be suffering from 2nd season syndrome. The last 2 matches which netted us 6 points were probably 2 of the worst I can remember

Many of the the players look unfit & we look totally disorganised

Oh & we still need a RB & a striker

Other than that, everything is fine & I've got nothing to moan about

No, it hasn't. Most of the threads are fuck all to to do with West Ham at all. It's more like Woman's Own than an anti West Ham website.

ALL football fans moan ffs, it's what being a fan is. There are even some Leicester fans who want Raneiri out.

When have you ever met a fan of another club, on holiday for example, and they stand there singing their clubs praises? That's right, it doesn't happen.
